Dear Faculties,

In this difficult times of global conflicts and war atrocities, people across the world are praying for peace. Yet we have evidence that one of your PHD student, Tianyou Yao, gave inappropriate hate speech against Ukrainian people in a pubic group chat. As attached in the email, a person named Tianyou Yao, who graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University, was commenting in a group chat of alumni, saying things along the lines of "I hope the Russians kill as many Ukrainians as possible until they surrender......the more they kill, the better it is for our (China's) next step".

The attached images have gone viral on Twitter and other online platforms. They are hurting the reputation of your institution as well as other Chinese students and faculties at BCM. It is even more concerning that these hate speech came from someone working for a medical institution, where people should work to heal the wounds, not to incite pains.

While Mr. Yao has the freedom to express his own political views, such hate speech has gone far beyond the realm of freedom of speech and should be deemed a direct violation of the code of conduct at your institution. We demand BCM to take immediate disciplinary actions against Yao before more harm can be done.
