Dear Department of Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,

Today (2/27/22), a post on Twitter about the speech of Tianyou Yao, one of the PhD students at XYZ, is really concerning. The tweet has multiple screenshots of highly extremist and possibly Nazism speech regarding the current situation in Ukraine from a WeChat (an app similar to WhatsApp) group. His speech shows zero compassion to the people who are suffering from the war in Ukraine at all and expresses that he wants more Ukrainians to die simply because it would be more beneficial to his “next steps”.

As a U.S. citizen, I am really concerned, since he talked about his “next steps” (in pic 3). I cannot imagine what his next steps could possibly be, given this highly extremist and possibly Nazism speech. Therefore, I am writing this email to share my concern with the Department of Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

最后一个意见：最后结尾的时候可以强调一下身为科研工作者的伦理道德责任之类的，举个纳粹科学家开发生化武器帮助纳粹侵略的事，说明科研工作者可能会利用自己的知识对社会造成巨大的危害。所以你才表达这个关切的。我看他是学生物的，你也可以用基因编辑婴儿的事来说一些 没有伦理道德的科学家会干出啥事。

是的，不过我也不想翻译得太清楚，需要太多context “杀人越多，越有利于他的下一步” 这句已经够他跟学校解释了吧？或者我吧这个发给FBI，NSA或者USCIS？让他跟FBI,NSA,USCIS解释杀人越多越有利于他们什么下一步呢？

The UIUC Physics department informed that the individual in the screenshots and the graduate student at UIUC with the same name are not the same. They say that the person in the screenshots is not a student at all. Message the moderators of our sub-reddit (r\UIUC) for details and proof.

I would like to believe that it is true, so stop emailing people at UIUC. You are behind the wrong guy (with the same name).
