父母被定为右派，被红卫兵带走之后就没了消息，作为污点家庭的孩子，她不得不响应毛泽东上山下乡的号召，结束上了一半的初中，背井离乡去一个从没听说过的穷乡僻壤。毛死了之后的几年，听说高考恢复了，她兴奋坏了，想着能结束这无意义的生活，挑完粪之后，跑着去了村委会，怯生生的问村支书怎么报名参加高考，十来年都人模人样的村支书，露出一脸坏笑，呲着一嘴黑黄的牙，吐了口旱烟说:“你平时表现不错，但是你知道这个机会不是谁都能有的”，说着村支书一把抓住她的手，往自己怀里拉“你得接受组织对你的考验，合格了你就能去考试” 那天晚上，她一个人在茅屋里一夜没睡，哭着又看了那半本手抄的英语教材……第二天，她发现村里的知青走了不少，她狐疑地问地里的老乡，却发现，他们都高考去了，她气冲冲地冲进村委会质问村支书:“说好的有我呢？说好的有我呢？”，却迎面挨了一个大嘴巴，“城里来的臭婊子!不看看你家是什么成分?!”，说着扬长而去……后来她才知道，走了的都是家里有关系的，爹妈不是当官的，就是叔父舅舅在部队里……后来她嫁给了村里的庄稼汉刘青，他除了脾气不好，偶尔因为她生不了孩子训她两句，对她也还实在，有好东西紧着她先吃……改革开放了，村里收的租子这些年也越来越少了，他家种的橘子也让在市场上买了，她觉得日子越来越有盼头了，但架不住自己早就一把岁数，满头白发了…… 老伴走了，家里的两亩地的果树就靠她一个人打理了，但少了一张吃饭的嘴，再加上果子熟了能去镇上换钱，一年刨去口粮和肥她能挣个五六千，也算不错了……今天，她像以前一样在街边摆着水果摊，来了一群小伙子和几个挺着肚子穿制服的中年人，二话不说抬着她的摊子要走，她惊讶着抓着篮子，迎头来了一警棍……醒来时，发现她的水果被踩烂了一地，她又惊又怕，泪捂着流血的头，坐在街边，看着川流不息的车和行人，泪涓涓地淌着，心里翻腾着，想起她故去的老伴，想起村里一个个走掉的知青，想起村支书，想起被红卫兵带走的父母……
