just try things. Start off with some popular majors (e.g. computer science, finance, engineering, psychology, medical stuff, order doesn't matter) and see if you have the potential for it. Be sure to spend at least 3 days on each of them

if none of them works for you, not the end of world. Talk to your counselor (if you have any) or professors and see if they can help you on this.

and if you got distraction issues, try website blockers (plenty of them are out there as google extensions).

You know what, you see Finance isn't hard for a reason.

Accounting is absolutely boring, and it wiped out a lot of ppl. But it could be a solid career for ppl to get to six figure in 5 or 6 years, and it is not as hard as CS or nursing. If you can make into federal/city/state government or MTA, it would be pretty sweet.

CS is not easy, data structure and algorithm would kick off over two third of students. And it needs enormous efforts to teach yourself and do those projects by yourself. You gonna keep yourself up to date at least every month or quarter I would say. It's true for ppl who love coding, that this would be a dream career path, but it wouldn't be that easy to catch-up when you are in 40s and having your kids and wife.

Nursing would make a lot of money if you become a travel nurse, tho it is very stressful, because you need to experience death of patients in ICUs, and 12 hours overnight shifts wouldn't be that easy as described by nurses.

Nurse is the occupation with one of the highest divorce rate for a reason. But it's a solid career for the increasing demand.

City college and College of staten island do have EE program.

Most majors that make above average money are not easy, basic economy tells you that if something makes a lot of money and it is easy, the supply will simply go up and move its return down. I would say that most of the engineering related major, especially CS or EE will give you some good return, but I‘ve seen a lot of people who are not interested in these major and get a completely irrelevant job after graduation, so probably something you’re interested in might be better. We can’t make any life decisions for you and it is your call to choose what type of life you want.

I make a living by coding, I would say that programming is basically learning a new language, it is hard to not struggle at first. It takes me a really long time till the point that I feel I can code without difficulty and switch smoothly between different programming languages. There is not short cut for this, just practice makes perfect.

well I actually am at one of the CUNY Colleges that you said for me to go to. My current CUNY college don't have that much available and it will take too long if I transfer because i have additional credits to complete

Actually it is. The CS program is kinda difficult and the first couple of classes are difficult enough to weed folks out. Some folks have years of experience and they still fail it completely.
