I care about the people of China and ended up in the general activist community from my work on the Free Hong Kong movement, I then learned about how China treats their people on the whole and as a human rights activist I follow a lot of reddits that I can gauge what's going on from context but don't speak the native language.

I normally don't have to ask whats going on because I can tell from context but this had no context I could identify so I asked.

I have been following the treatment of the people of China for a long time now and have nothing but empathy for the regular people living under an authoritarian regime.

I think people would be less quick to judge if they realised people are being literally marched onto busses in the night to be taken to covid camps with worse facilities and freedom's than an actual prison where you are almost guaranteed to be reinfected over and over, if they don't do that they literally seal the entrances to your building and if you're very lucky provide you a small quantity of food a day, cut off water to your building and all because one person in it tested positive, its utterly horrifying.

Whilst people in America scream that their rights are being violated because they're being refused entry to a few restaurants because they refuse to be vaccinated or wear a mask and scream about how the vaccines will kill them whilst people are literally being lined up in a row every day to be forcibly covid tested, they have no idea what having your human rights violated even vaguely feels like.

Oh and let's not forget the social ranking system and facial recognition cameras everywhere and the suicide epidemic caused by all this horror being inflicted on the people, the list could go on forever and it's horrifying.

But of course people are gonna clutch their pearls and cry barbarity when people show some joy at seeing karma strike someone who has been actively adding to to the misery of their own people when they act like they're receiving the same treatment from being offered a free safe none mandatory vaccination.

Wow, yes, you know China better than most people living in China. Many Chinese (probably because of information censorship) even support these policies until bad things happen to them, and then they will start shouting, but they don't know that they have created all this. When the government deprives them of their basic rights again and again, They will be immersed in those collective fantasies, crazy support these policies, and do not know that they are treated as slaves, or even worse.

I'm glad to know that there are foreigners who really care about what shit happened in China. Most foreigners seem to have an incomprehensible tendency to beautify China. I think you're very sober. Sadly the whole "I support it because its not happening to me" attitude is all too common, for example in the UK where I live people will continually vote for right wing parties and then be surprised when we loose more and more funding and they can't get medical care, social housing isn't being built, disabled people like myself are getting no help and being forced into homes or left to die, over 500,000 disabled people have died/taken their lives after loosing their benefits here but if it doesn't directly effect them then they don't give a flying fuck.

I have given an immense amount of thought to China and done a monumental amount of research and from what I can see they seem to retain support from the people living in the expensive areas being pampered and through as you said suppressing information, until covid times I don't think a lot of people even questioned their government, what do you think as someone on the ground? Are people questioning the government more now they've seen how they're being treated in a time of crisis? Do you think that people will continue to occasionally riot and it'll become more wide spread? Do you think this will change anything?

What do you think people outside of China could do better to support the people of China? More people care than is likely obvious but not enough people in positions of power sadly care about any of the regular people in any country be it their own or another.

Personally, I think foreigners can do very little. Most western countries face their own problems, and people are more willing to care about those problems than what happens in a mysterious country in the East,

If there's anything to help, I think it's to break the information blockade. You know, I have to use a VPN to visit here to talk to you or watch the video I want to watch on YouTube. Most Chinese people are surrounded by information bubbles made by the government. This is not the kind of "information bubbles" in the West. In China, all media will be censored until the government is satisfied, which is full of incitement to nationalism, Western hate propaganda, and then they portray themselves as a great image of protecting people from the evil west (you know, those dictatorships always do that). People don't know what happened. I once thought that "Maybe they are stupid. But as long as they educate kids well, their next generation society will be better and better". Later, I found that it's not so simple. The government can use any resources to achieve the desired purpose. They can distort education and publicize those false information. I think as long as people can have easier access to the truth, they will not be deceived easily, and make more rational decision. I can't think of a better way for now

I don't blame them for being angry, people are literally being physically barred in their homes, starving to death or by dehydration, people being kidnapped to covid camps and their families not knowing where they are or if they're alive.

It's a enormous set of human rights violations and the authoritarian leadership and treatment of the Chinese people is horrifying.

So yea, I don't blame them for their response at all.

I was aware that this is a Chinese reddit built by Chinese people for Chinese people, I initially ended up here because of my activism in the free Hong Kong movement as I found here to be reporting honestly on the horrific treatment of the people of China and I like to remain aware, I only ask for context when I can't myself figure out what's happening.

I am from the UK and though we offered sanctuary to a lot of people from HK, we are not doing enough at all despite our obvious duties.

Thank you so much for responding to me, I hope I am not intruding by being here, I just want to keep up to date with what's happening in China and this is the least biased and most honest sub I've been able to find.

nah lol, just to clarify, this sub ain't nowhere near unbiased, instead, it's filled with radical China-haters who discuss how to perform mass genocide of Chinese people (that's right, this sub not only hates CCP, but the whole Chinese race as well). I'll admit most of us are just meming when we talk about these radical stuffs, but it's hard to tell how many of us take it serious. You can view us as the 4chan of China but this place is liberal, since China isn't.
