The freedom to surf the web is something I hope almost all of Reddit would consider sacred and, sadly since many in the world can not, a worthy cause. In relation to China but also to Russia, which soon could become more isolated and radicalized.

Also a kind gesture with the color scheme - and it looked great.

I notice that the wave has already been successfully drawn in the bottom right, although in original colors. I do not think I am the only one who do not understand its meaning though.

Maybe it would be worth adding some text to it so others get what it symbolizes?

The wave isn't a work of this sub, it is a collective project pushed forward by individuals on r/place. We shall not tread our own ego over what's not ours even when it is important

Ah-hah I don't think Xi is a fan of any view implying any state could be greater than China.

I think there are many things still to fix in those 'utopias' and also several valid successes with China (it's growth is amazing). E.g. during the famines in the 1800's, people in those regions fled and dreamed of opportunity in the United States. It is a small place, if there are some good things to take from it, would be best to spread it to other parts of the world too.

Thanks for explaining this though. Where is XianZhong's ideology written? I mostly only find history online about his deeds.

Hope it was due to the claims of doxxing and not some "chinese hate" (I would look to other subs for that..)

I think CLTV has done a great thing with its place art and the fact that Reddit moderators have not jumped in to censor it. I think it answers some questions about the control states have over Reddit.

It is doxxing, a Chinese bank worker who said that she is blocking all transfer from Shanghai to Ukraine to "Show the American lapdogs" was doxxed on that sub, and that's probably what triggered the ban. However doxxing itself is actually a common practice among the CN internet due to the convenience (All social media platform requires you to have a verified phone and residential ID, some sites even need you to have your face scanned as a step of verification, this is for the govt to have a tight grip on people's discussion on the internet, so that they may detain or arrest who speaks against the CCP, or have their social credits - yes this is a real thing - reduced. This creates great opportunities for doxxing since everyone's real identites' are logged.) and its sheer destructive power. But Reddit like other western social platforms, calls for """""""positivity""""""". so yeah no doxxing even if its somehow justified.

The figure with beard on the left is XianZhong Zhang, a successful peasant uprising leader and a later king of short reign over a minor region. He was mentally instable, comprehensively cynical and probably as a result enlightened in a strange way, for example having his own sense of "sin" and ruthless treatments with the "sinner".

Followers of r/cltv support Zhang's ideology to some extent and consider memes built around him fun, so they put Zhang on their banner.

I subbed half way so maybe I misunderstood.

From what I understand , some people here and in rchonglangtv claimed that japan is their hometown as they are trying to run away from China. This plus the “surfing the internet”, people chose the kanagawa wave as their symbol, originally.

Then the Ukraine war happened. As support, chonglangtv among with related subs donated over 10,000 usd to Ukraine changed the wave pattern to Ukraine flag color.
