Character is to distinguished from language. Mandarin as language is not so komplex, but Chinese characters are hard to write.

Apart from writing and tones, I don’t think Chinese is hard to learn. Probably you should try Russian, that’s way more harder than Chinese.

汉字就跟鬼画符一样，中古以前还用单字，一个音几百个上前个同音字，交流传播效率低得可怕，中古唐宋以后的人开始嗯造双音节词直到现在，才稍微好点。
